Sturgeon Bay Police Association

The Sturgeon Bay Professional Police Association is an organization within the Sturgeon Bay Police Department that was designed to get our officers involved in non-law enforcement activities within our community. The Association is comprised of all Members of the Department, including sworn officers and non-sworn staff. The Association has been in existence for approximately 30 years, however, over the past four years, the Association has really stepped up its community involvement. Members of the Association have held two successful fund raising events since 1999; both involved the raffling of a new truck. Both raffles sold out with the net profits going to the Association. The Association, in turn, uses the proceeds to make contributions to other organizations and deserving causes within our community. In addition, the Association has sponsored numerous school dances that focus on the 6th, 7th and 8th grade levels. Many of the proceeds from these dances are given back to programs at the schools. The Association has stepped in during the holiday seasons to make sure that some needy families are not without traditional holiday meals and gifts as well. The Members of the Association realize that the very nature of law enforcement can, and often does, lead to what some would preceive as negative contacts between the public and law enforcement. After all, no one likes to get a ticket. With that in mind, the Members of the Sturgeon Bay Police Department use the Association as a tool to increase the number of positive contacts with the public. The current Board of Directors of the Sturgeon Bay Professional Police Association are: President, Officer Guy Binish, Vice President, Officer Carl Waterstreet and Secretary, Officer Scott Rockendorf.
