The City of Sturgeon Bay Police Department holds an annual Citizen's Academy which allows the citizens of Sturgeon Bay an opportunity to understand what our Police Officers do and why they do it. Classes run once weekly for eight weeks, are free of charge, and are held at the city hall. Each Academy covers a wide variety of topics which include but are not limited to the following topics:

  • Patrol Procedures
  • Ethics
  • Professional Communication
  • Firearms
  • Investigations
  • Detection of Impaired Drivers
  • Computer Crimes
  • Defense and Arrest Tactics (DAAT)

Every class is taught by Sturgeon Bay Police Officers who are experts in their field and student participation is strongly recommended. The next Citizen's Academy will be held in 2012 with dates to be announced when they become available.
