-Always park in a well-lit area, near other groups of people if possible
-Always lock your car and roll your windows up when leaving the car.
-Check your car before getting into it, to make sure that no one is hiding inside of it.
-Keep purses and other valuables hidden in the car. Do not leave them out in plain sight, as they are targets for smash-and-grab thefts.
-When walking at night, use well-lit, busy streets.
-If you think you are being followed, either on foot or in a car, go to the nearest police station, or anywhere that there are a lot of people around (gas station, resturant, store, etc...)
-Never hitchhike or pick up hitchhikers.
-Do not carry valuables with you. Leave them at home or in the trunk of the car. If someone wants what you have with you, GIVE IT TO THEM. Nothing is more valuable than you.
-If you are attacked, scream! This will attract help and may scare away the attacker. If you have car keys, slash with them at the attacker's face. Push, punch, and kick the attacker if needed. GET AWAY, AND RUN FOR HELP.
