Street Smarts-Stay Safe on the streets.

- Never get close to or in a car with a stranger.
- If someone in a car stops and asks you a question NEVER get close to that car. Say "I don't know." and WALK or RUN away from the car.
- Never talk to strangers on the street.
- Never tell a stranger your name or address unless you’re hurt or need help.
- Always stay where other people can see you when you need help.
- Never accept candy or gifts from a stranger.
- Do not wear clothing with your name on it.
-If you think you are going to be harmed go to a safe place (an open store, a friend's home, a relative's home, a police or fire station, etc.)
- If you feel something is wrong always listen to your instincts.
Go to the nearest safe place and tell someone you are scared and have them call your parents or the police.
- If something does happen to you SCREAM “HELP“ LEAVE ME ALONE“
- If you have to, kick, punch and hit the person hurting you.
- As soon as you can, run away and keep yelling and making as much noise as you can. RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!
- At night stay where there are street lights and where other people can see and hear you.
- If you are alone walk in the middle of the sidewalk. This is so a stranger can’t grab you from their car.
- Never hitchhike! If you are stuck and need a ride home, NEVER ask a stranger! Call the Sturgeon Bay Police Department at 920-746-2450. We will make sure you get home safe. There are bad people out there that ride around and look for kids. When you hitchhike you are asking for TROUBLE. The person who you think is helping you can HARM and HURT you. Play it safe and never accept a ride from a stranger.

- Do not take more money than you need for lunch or after school fun.
- Do not put your money in your book bag. Always keep it in a pocket.
